SUMMARY:Andy Crosbie - The Inner Work needed to shift Systems
DESCRIPTION:Often\, we talk about system change in terms of the external\, of radically changing structures or processes\, changing how people relate to services and where power is located. But systems are all around us\, they influence us in ways we can’t always see. We internalise the structures that have shaped our world.   \nIn this workshop\, Andy Crosbie\, Emma Proud\, and Bhavesh Patel will explore their experiences of what this looks like in practice.   \nWe will uncover the difficult questions we need to confront within ourselves to understand how we each take\, use and give away power. We’ll explore how we reveal and unpack the psychological and emotional baggage that can lead us to recreate the very structures we seek to dismantle – and how we might leave that baggage behind us\, freeing our hands to mould systems with people\, not tired old systems of injustice\, at their heart. \nParticipants will be invited to join in\, exploring and sharing their own inner work. We hope participants will take a way a sense of deeper connection and some ideas of inner work practices they can continue in their own context.

SUMMARY:Marcus Jenal - The neglected Outer and Inner Spaces we need to learn
DESCRIPTION:This exploration will be inspired by Dougald Hines’ invitation to turn away from the brightly lit multi-lane highway that society is inviting us to walk on towards a sustainable future. Marcus and Andy believe that we need to question our ways of thinking and begin very deeply in order not to recreate the same problems that have led humanity to the various predicaments we are now facing. Learning\, if recast\, can help us in this process of reflection and (re-)discovery of various different ways of doing and being. Joint learning and joint reflection allows us to tap into each other’s perspectives\, wisdom\, and paradigms. \nWe are moved by the insight that science and scientific ways of thinking no longer offers all the answers\, as Dougald stipulates. What does that mean for learning? What if a room of participants was more than an assemblage of thinking minds? \nAndy and Marcus will begin by each sharing a story and a provocation to frame and start the conversation. We will then step back into the circle\, inviting others to share their experiences\, in the style of an Unhurried Conversation. \nParticipants will experience and take away a different perspective on what learning can be and the needs it can serve. They will experience story-sharing and unhurried exploration of how learning could be different.
